Use of Outdated Projections to Justify Housing Need
We strongly support Spelthorne Borough Council in challenging the use of outdated 2014-based future household projections, especially since the only way the current target can be achieved is through releasing Green Belt land. If the Government really believe that great importance attaches to Green Belt, then it should reinforce this by accepting that the use of 2014-based data is redundant.

I am emailing to voice my concern over the New Local Plan Consultation for Spelthorne. While I appreciate that there is a pressure on local governments to provide much needed housing, the current approach seems to be very reactive and piecemeal without a genuine long term plan for the Borough and particularly Staines. Many people, myself included are particularly concerned over the lack of strategy to deal with the additional:
- Traffic (already very congested through Staines Centre)
- Burden

I am disturbed at the Council plans to use our precious Green Belt areas to build 1649 new homes.
Please consider these points:-
a) Available Brownfield sites could accommodate 2671 homes.
b) There is no convincing evidence that exceptional circumstances exist to allow the legal withdrawal of Green Belt status for the areas in the proposal.
c) The Council should be treating the preservation of the Green Belt sites as an immutable priority and starting point. It should build on this in a plan

We hereby lodge our objections to the above plan/scheme for the following reasons:
Additional pressure on the local infrastructure (GP surgery, schools, shops, etc)
Additional volume of traffic, noise and general disturbance to residents of Old Charlton Road, and all the roads feeding into it
Disturbance to local wild life and nature reserve area

I would like to register my objection to releasing green belt land within Spelthorne for building or commercial purposes. This land is very important to the residents and their feelings should be considered. Spelthorne council should be ashamed of themselves for even considering this, it is not all about the money!

I am writing to object to the utilisation of green belt land for housing as outlined in the Spelthorne 2020-35 Draft Local Plan.
Although I understand the requirement to build houses for an expanding population, I believe the figure set by our government using 2014 figures is fundamentally flawed, especially as we have been told that using more up to date figures would safeguard our diminishing green belt areas.
Green Belt was established to prevent people building on it and it fulfils importa

As you are aware there have been strong reactions to many of the Local Plan allocations, notably the loss of valuable Green Belt sites. From our discussions with resident's groups we believe that the current level of engagement has been inadequate.
Many people are concerned that the Local Plan is a done deal that will not be influenced by the representations of residents. We feel unable to defend the current proposals as they have been put forward by a small group of members, chosen by you, and

I am concerned about what is contained within the local plan with regard to the destruction of both our Green Belt and the wider borough of Spelthorne as a result of the building of huge numbers of new houses. Our Green belt is already fragmented and mis-used for inappropriate land uses - motorways, golf courses, industrial waste plants and so on. Taking this "small" amount of green belt for new housing is really the thin end of the wedge and an excuse for more down the line. Even on those brown

I would like to make the following comments:
* The council must challenge the government-imposed housing targets as they are now out of date.
* The response to the Issues and Options Consultation appears to favour Option 1 - the Brownfield option closely followed by Option3-Staines Focus. Option 2-Greenbelt focus was overwhelmingly rejected. So why have you chosen to proceed with option 4?
* I do not believe that it is necessary or desirable for you to release any of the 19 Green Belt areas c
